This course will provide the detail knowledge of hazardous area principles, various international standards and certification schemes relevant to the topic of explosive atmosphere.

 

Course Modules

Day 1:

  • Hazardous Area – History & Importance
  • Overview of Codes & Standards and Competency schemes
  • Electrical and Non-Electrical Ignition Sources (Hazards) & Handling
  • Hazardous Area Classification – Zone and Class/Div concept
  • Various Certification Schemes (ATEX, IECEx, ANZEx, NEC)
  • ATEX is not equal to IECEx – A Difference


Day 2:

  • Flammable Materials Properties
  • Explosion Protection Methods, Principles & Types (Ex d, e, n, i, p, m, o)
  • Certification Schemes and Equipment Marking
  • Occupational Health & Safety, Permit to Work System
  • Ex Register & Hazardous Area Dossier

 

Course Outcome

  • Detail knowledge about different codes & standards and Competency schemes all over the world
  • General knowledge of area classification (Zone) concepts
  • Concepts and Features of various protection techniques
  • Main difference between ATEX and IECEx
  • Work culture, procedure, risk management and documentation
